About me…

My undergraduate work at UMKC was in Sociology / Sex and Gender, and my Masters degree, from Roosevelt University in Chicago, is in Clinical Psychology. After a rewarding career in psychological and psychiatric research across the US, I returned to my hometown of Kansas City in 2018, and worked as an administrator for a small middle and high school, where I also taught Sexuality Education and Social Emotional Learning.

When that position ended, I wanted to continue following my calling of working with youth and providing guidance and support as they navigate the difficult years towards independent adulthood.

I started Because We Said So LLC because I see a critical gap in support services for young people who don’t need clinical therapy but still need guidance and connection. Providing a space where they can get relational, non-clinical support helps ease pressure on the broader mental health system and ensures that therapy resources remain available for youth who truly need them.
